Digital Vernier caliper, also known as a digital caliper, is a precision measuring instrument used to accurately measure linear dimensions. It is an upgraded version of the traditional vernier caliper, which uses a sliding scale and a secondary vernier scale to provide precise readings.

A digital vernier caliper consists of two main parts: the main scale and the sliding jaw. The main scale is fixed and features graduations in either inches or millimeters, depending on the model. The sliding jaw moves along the main scale and contains a digital display, which provides a direct measurement reading.
